Compare Nissan Ariya Insurance
Nissan says the new Ariya “will mark a new era for electric vehicles”. Bold styling, voice-command tech, beautifully designed ‘minimal’ interior, sleek sweeping design and more infotainment than a snazzed up Tardis; the Japanese company says this second electric car (the first EV SUV) will begin a “new chapter for Nissan”, but it won’t be cheap to insure.
Discover what to look for when taking out Nissan Ariya insurance below…
How broad is the Ariya range?
A choice of two-wheeled drive and four-wheeled drive models are available. There is also a choice of 63kWh and 87kWh batteries, with a range of 223 miles and 310 miles respectively. All models will also feature two 12-inch screens across the dashboard, the largest fitted to any Nissan. Available in the UK at the end of this year, however delays are expected.
What insurance groups will the Nissan Ariya fall into?
Insurance groups for the Nissan Ariya have yet to be finalised in the UK. To insure an electric car will cost you more than a conventional petrol or diesel car because of the specialist parts and servicing required. So, if the smaller Nissan Leaf’s insurance groups range from 21 to 25 out of a possible 50, the Ariya will sit in a much higher bracket.
Will it be expensive to buy?
It’s the biggest, most expensive EV Nissan have produced (Expect to pay £45,000-£60,000) when it hits our shores. But then the benefits to going electric are clear and obvious. The premium, like all vehicles, will depend on the area you live in, driver experience and how you intend to use the car from day today.
How safe is the Nissan Ariya
What we here in the UK know so far is that Nissan says the Ariya “has everything in balance – control, handling, safety, comfort and quietness”. If it’s anything to go by, the Nissan Leaf was awarded 5 stars in its Euro NCAP crash tests.
It is expected to be loaded with airbags and various other safety features for frontal crash protection. As the Ariya is aimed at the family market, these tests are obviously crucial.
How is it possible reduce my insurance premium on the Nissan Ariya?
Like with any make or model of car there are a number of ways to lighten your insurance premium on your Nissan Ariya. Black box insurance is worth considering. This device records how well and efficient you drive and rewards you with a nice healthy percentage off the cost to insure. This of course depends on what you intend to use the car for.
