Flow Car Insurance Review
Flow Car Insurance was established in 2020 to fill the market gap for rolling monthly car insurance. As of December 14, 2023, Flow Insurance has ceased offering monthly subscription car insurance and renters insurance. Current policyholders of these insurance types will continue to be covered until their subscriptions expire.
Who are Flow Insurance?
Flow is a digital-first business that offers flexible car and until recently home insurance policies. Flow aims to help motorists save on their insurance by implementing a self-service process which means you don’t need to deal with anyone over the phone to get the coverage you need. They have claimed that this helps them reduce overhead costs and so allows them to offer cheaper premiums to their customers.
Commonly marketed as the cheaper option for younger drivers and learners on a lower income, Flow is a popular choice for those looking to save on their car insurance.
Flow car insurance is underwritten by LV Insurance which has received consistently high customer reviews and is a trusted insurance provider in the UK market.
How much does Flow Car Insurance cost?
10% of new Flow annual car insurance policyholders paid £259 or less per annum on their coverage as of September 2023. The exact cost of a Flow annual car insurance policy will vary with individual motorists.
How do I contact Flow Car Insurance?
Flow car insurance only uses its phone lines to assist you in making a claim on your policy. This means they will not be able to assist you with queries regarding a quote. To get through to their claims team, call 0800 030 4897.
Who is Flow Car Insurance owned by?
Flow insurance is underwritten by Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company Limited and adheres to the Financial Conduct Authorities requirements.
What makes Flow Car Insurance cheap?
Due to its self-service business model, flow claims it is able to cut overheads on its premiums by removing the need of a call centre. Whilst some customers may prefer to discuss their quote over the phone before a purchase, Flow has taken the stance that in order to provide more competitive prices to its customers it needs to be a self-service insurer.
Flow’s monthly car insurance vs annual car insurance
Flow’s monthly car insurance gives you the option of choosing to pay for your coverage on a monthly basis, giving you greater flexibility if an annual insurance policy isn’t for you. Flow offers their best price guaranteed for 3 months and based on your circumstances. They also state that there are no unexpected price hikes after 12 months. Your comprehensive cover will keep rolling over every month until you cancel. You also will not be charged monthly interest or admin fees.
Flow’s annual car insurance policy offers you the same benefits as a monthly policy but is designed to cater more for those who prefer to have their car insurance taken care of on a yearly basis.
What car insurance does Flow offer?
Flow offers the expected ranges of coverage from basic cover right through to comprehensive. You can also tailor your policy to include add-on options which gives you the coverage you need.
Third party (TPO): This is the minimum legal requirement for drivers in the UK. It will offer you coverage for any damages you cause to a third parties vehicle. You will not be covered for your own vehicles damage under this coverage however. It also tends to be the cheapest option due to its minimal level of coverage however this is not always the case as riskier drivers tend to opt for this coverage level.
Third party, fire, and theft (TPFT): This is exactly the same as a third party insurance policy, but it will also pay you out if your own car is stolen or damaged by fire.
Comprehensive cover: As the name suggests, fully-comp is the most comprehensive level of cover a driver can take out in the UK, and as such it’s generally the best car insurance option. This type of policy includes everything that’s covered by TPFT, but will also cover the cost of repairing or replacing the vehicle of an at-fault driver. This type of insurance will also pay out if you’re involved in an accident with an uninsured driver, which isn’t covered by lower levels of cover.

Much of the positive feedback received for flow was directed toward the positive customer experiences as well as the ease of setting up a policy. Overall however the majority of reviewers were happy to recommend Flow for car insurance and did not have any reservations.
Is Flow car insurance good?
Flow insurance has received largely positive reviews from customers and has proven to be a popular choice for those looking for greater flexibility with their car insurance.
