Bell Car Insurance Review
Review Bell Car Insurance
Bell Car Insurance is a UK based insurer and a division of Admiral Group plc, one of the largest car insurance providers in the UK. They offer a diverse range of car insurance products including young drivers insurance. Whilst Bell has a fairly unique offering with its 6 month only black box insurance policy, it may not be the best option for everyone.
What are some of the benefits of using Bell Car Insurance?
By using Bell car insurance, younger drivers may be able to find fairer deals with the implementation of the latest Plug & Drive black-box technology. Their are also no curfews, monthly mileage limits and your premiums will not increase during the policy term due to your driving score. According to Bell, most of their customers save on their renewal premiums.
The differences between Bell black box insurance and other providers
Bell insurance won’t require you to keep a black box installed permanently with their policies. Instead they only require you to have the Bell Plug & Drive installed for the first 6 months of your policy. There are also no curfews imposed and you are free to drive whenever you wish Bells telematic coverage. However frequent late night driving can affect your driving score but it won’t increase your premium until you go to renew. There are also no monthly mileage limits on your policy like many other telematics insurers.

Not a bad word to say
“Not a bad word to say! When I got my renewal price it was a bit high so I have them a call and they matched a price I’d got from another insurance quote, this saved me over £200 doing this the customer service was great and extremely helpful! Their online portal is also easy to use and making changes to your policy is easy and hassle free and saves you sitting in a queue on the phone!”
Trustpilot Review: 16 February 2023
Adequate insurance – rubbish website, phone support
“Buying a new car was a hassle free experience until I had to deal with Bell Insurance – the payment section of the website was unavailable and getting through on the phone took ages. Waiting for an hour on the forecourt while this happened was just embarrassing. Once I got through to a Welsh call centre the member of staff was very helpful.”
Trustpilot Review: 24 January 2022
Whilst Bell Car Insurance policy holders shouldn’t fear Admirals (underwriter) ability to pay out on a claim if needed, the overall complaint ratio for Bell.co.uk with the Financial Ombudsman Service was higher than average.
Comparing car insurance quotes
It is always a good idea to compare multiple car insurance policies before committing to a policy. This is because whilst an insurer may be able to offer the best price on car insurance to one person, they may not be the best option for someone else. This simply comes down to how each person has their own risk profile to the employer when calculating your premium costs. Such factors can include your age, the level of coverage you wish to take out, any previous claims made and the make and model of your vehicle.
As a result you never know who will be able to offer you the best deal on your insurance without running a comparison of the UK car insurance market – That’s where we can help.
Quotezone.co.uk has compiled a panel of over 110 insurance providers, allowing you to quickly compare insurance options side by side, and all it takes is one short form.
*51% of consumers could save £523.47 on their Car Insurance. The saving was calculated by comparing the cheapest price found with the average of the next six cheapest prices quoted by insurance providers on Seopa Ltd’s insurance comparison website. This is based on representative cost savings from August 2024 data. The savings you could achieve are dependent on your individual circumstances and how you selected your current insurance supplier.
